Table of Contents
Diflubenzuron is a type of insecticide that kills insects by inhibiting larval molting. It is mainly used to control larvae of fruit flies and other insects.
Larvae of fruit flies repeatedly molt for growth, forming a new epidermis each time. Because diflubenzuron inhibits this epidermal formation, the larvae are unable to molt properly and die without developing into adults.
Compared to other pesticides, diflubenzuron has the advantage of being gentle to crops and can be used at times when damage is likely to occur, such as during seedling and budding stages.
Diflubenzuron is used to control larvae of molting pests such as fruit flies.
There are two types of diflubenzuron: hydrate and foam tablets. Foam tablets are mainly used in drainage ditches, septic tanks, and gutters where the source of the flies is clearly known. The hydrate is used for crop pest control.
Diflubenzuron is applied to the following crops: apple, pear, and peach pests, melon, watermelon, and cucumber pests, leek pests, onion fly, ginger pests, and tree pests.
